Guiding Principles: The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare

Our favourite quote: "Everyone thinks they have the best dog and none of them are wrong." - W.R. Purche

Abby has loved dogs ever since she was little girl and has never been without one. They're an integral part of her life.

After adopting Luna as her own and feeling an overwhelming sense of love and protection toward her, Abby was inspired to start a business.

The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare:

1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst

2. Freedom from Discomfort

3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease

4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour

5. Freedom from Fear and Distress

The thought of Luna, another dog or any other being without one of these freedoms is truly heartbreaking. The goal with Luna's Doghouse is to not only meet these freedoms, but to go above and beyond in all of these aspects. The goal with every product and service we offer is to inspire the beautiful, loving and safe home that every dog and person deserves.

Thank You For Your Support!

My name is Abby and I was 23 years old completing an internship in Golden, British Columbia when I walked into work one snowy morning to Luna (originally named Rotti) and her brother, Blue. Little did I know my boss fostered puppies often!

Luna was born in December and found in Northern Manitoba at just eight weeks old, huddled underneath a little log shed with her Mom and siblings, surviving freezing temperatures.

My partner, Mark, was across the country at the time, so it's safe to say we weren't on the search for a pup! But her little eyebrows sold us both on the idea pretty quickly.

I would like to say thank you to my family, friends and the Paris community for your encouragement and support as I pursue this exciting venture. You are helping me achieve my dream of owning a creative small business that connects dogs and people, and I am so grateful!
